Dear Viewers:
I would like to take out a little time out of my busy day to tell you that I am still alive. I have just been majorily busy with helping the family out, going to school, and working on getting a format together for the new page design. I have been trying to get it started so that I could get back to updating you guys but I figured it'd be better to at least make sure that all my viewers know the progress of how things have been.
So far I am doing very good in college. Classes have been keeping me busy, seems like I am always caught up and then I get behind again. But I guess that goes with the part of being a full-time college. I am doing fairly good in all my classes...political science I have been busy with trying to grasp the ideas that are being taught to me which so far I am getting better at it; humanities, the professor is hard to follow along with so I think I am just winging this class with the knowledge that I have from high school (which thankfully to my drama club is a good amount); introduction to computers, this one is an easy class that I am passing with flying colors; lastly, math is probably one of the classes I am doing surprisingly well in.
Another thing that has been keeping me away is that I have been busy getting ideas to transform this blog into a website to show potential clients and I am even trying to get ideas together to get my business site going. But so far I am having a busy time finding resources and getting my programs together to help me out with this process. It's been hard, fun, and amusing and soon I hope to be able to show you more of what I am talking about.
Changes are going to be coming soon and I can't wait. But I thank you all with your support!
Sincerely,
Mandi Davis

Chaotic College Life: A Slight Change
Labels: Chaotic College Life, college, Fall Semester 2010, graphic design, social media, twitter 0 commentsSo I have been thinking about making a slight change in how I am going to blog about my Chaotic College Life. At first I was going to be summarizing my day, but upon discussing more about this to my Humanities class I figured I'd change things up a bit. How? Instead of writing what we learned that day I think that I am going to be blogging about what I got out of the lecture/lab that day PLUS give tips on how I think other students could learn from what I have learned. Then maybe I may include some thoughts and ideas for my future lecture/labs for that same class. However, I thought about ending the post here, but I'd hate to lose you all so I may just start with today's classes!
POLSC 151:
First exam for the class, I am thinking I did pretty good except for the fact that I freaked on the essay. It doesn't help that this was to a degree the first college exam I have had in the last two years [other than the Math exams I had two years ago]. I did study! Took me about 7 hours to do my note cards [they did help out with the last 12 minutes of the test] but because I freaked on the essay I had to wait for note period which meant that I didn't completely do good on the essay, but because I was confident on the multiple choice and still had the material freshly in my head [thanks to looking at the note cards a half hour before my test] I did great on that. I do highly recommend that if you ever get a teacher that allows notes that you not only use your notes from lectures but also doing note cards. Also if you have friends in that class, do a study group. Even if it's just you and that friend.
HUMAN 250:
Well this class so far is a great class. I am not only learning that its a great class were we can have fun and voice our opinion about the media but we can also have fun. I love this class because the Professor is great! Today in class he asked whether any of us were in to graphic design [um, yea I raised my hand] because he wants to have a picture for an article he is writing! Well I was able to get more info about the work he wanted and got to hear what he wanted so I have to work on that sometime tomorrow. Well with him asking me that I tweeted about it and because of something that happened in Humanities and me using Social Media I got a job offer that I cannot refuse (I'll keep you all updated on that as it comes along). So my advice on something like this...if an opportunity in your field comes in a class that you signed up for as a "blow off" class, go with and do what I did and take it to the next step!
CIS 130:
Second exam for the day and college life was in this class today! Did I study? No. Why? Well because I'm really good with computers and my brain is filled with all the knowledge from close to seven years as "apprentice" learning from my father I walked in confident with getting an A+ on the exam to a possible low A/High B. There were a couple questions that as I was taking the exam that I wish I would have just glanced through before the exam (I did have plenty of time in my 20 minute break to study) but I didn't think that I'd freeze again [ok I did but I didn't think it'd be in this class]. Even if you think your good enough to pass an exam because you think your smart enough...at least glance over it (especially if you don't like test/exams as well as I do).
MATH 121:
With Math being my most feared class I think today's class went well. I actually learned how to understand binary and what it meant. Now I am sure that'll have another computer class that'll help me understand binary so I am pretty glad that I really paid attention in class. Not only did we learn binary but we also went over our review for the first exam that'll take place in this class on Monday [yikes I better get started on my "cheat sheet" that we are allowed to have]. Thankfully I am pretty understanding with the stuff that I will be partaking in the cheat sheet that we are allowed to have and studying as well.
So I hope this wasn't as boring [which I am sure most of you thought that last one was] and that you understand that this is what I am hoping to portray with the Chaotic College Life series. I hope you guys and gals check back because I am trying to help you all out as well [if your in college that is].

Chaotic Ideas in Organization
Labels: announcements, book, brainstorming, changes, Chaotic College Life, college, Follow Friday, ideas, life, movie, music, reviews, twitter, update, writing 0 commentsSo I have been brainstorming many ideas for some more ways to make this an interesting blog. I am also working on a way to get these into pages as well. Sounds like on top of going to college (and yes making a little blog series out of it is going to be on of those many ideas). In case most of you haven't noticed that I not only do book reviews but I also just blog about anything in general as well!! I am slowly working on ways to get this site running better because this is a mini project that I am hoping to make a portfolio for a future class!!
Some of the many interesting ideas I have for the site are:
- Better reviews!! I am going to be redesigning the way I am going to be reviewing books, albums, artist, sites, etc. I am even thinking about changing around what all is included in the review which means there may be some added content to most and many reviews. The rating system may even go through a small change, this though I have not completely figured out.
- Follow Friday In the mist of the Twitter Follow Friday (yes I have a twitter and I try to partake in Twitter Follow Friday when I am able to get on the account) but I have started to work on getting new followers for my blog. I started this week and I am going to continue next week. So keep an eye every Friday for a list of my Blog & Twitter [coming soon] Follow Friday recommendations!!
- College Blog Series As most of you know I am going back to being a full-time student at Monroe County Community College! Well since this is part of starting a new chapter in life I am going to start making a habit of making a habit of blogging about my day at college every day that I have classes (which are Monday and Wednesday's) for a whole semester. That's right I am going to blog about my Chaotic College Life series. Yeah I am a dork, so sue me! (Not really just joking, I'm a smartass if you haven't realized)
- Song of the Day Music is a great part of my life that there are some days that I start listening to music as soon as I wake up. This has inspired me to start trying to make it a habit of making a daily posting of a song that has touched me that day! How will I pick which song will be the song of the day? It'll either be picked at random, how many times it was listened to, how its impacted my day, or just by how I have the song rated in my iTunes. Now there are countless number of songs out there but I am pretty much selecting them from the 4,000+ songs that I have in my iTunes, however; I will take suggestions!
- Random Updates I have from time to been known to post something about my day as well and this is not gonna change. It may have a different approach but these are going to continue! I enjoy being able to share my walk in life with people that I will not change that! I am not guaranteeing that I will give juicy details and if I don't feel like going into detail I sure hope you understand that there may be a reasoning behind it.

Upcoming Reviews and Blog Postings
Labels: college, Eclipse, Eminem, From Paris With Love, Inglorious Basterds, life, love, music, relationships, Stephenie Meyer, twitter, Usher 0 commentsWell I know it's been a while since I have blogged but I have been quite busy with work, selling my car, getting things done around the house for and with mom, signing up for Fall classes and trying to figure out what my next step is in life. Even trying to figure out things with my business and all as well. I may be having time more when I get to part-time in work and full-time in being a student to blog about things as well. It also don't help when my BlackBerry is down but I am quickly working on changing that soon!!!
I just want to say that there are new reviews that are going to be posted here soon. I recently have found new movies to watch. From Paris with Love is the most recent movie that I have watched (just actually finished watching it here) and as soon as I get time in the next few days I will be posting a review on that movie. Another great movie I've seen is Inglorious Bastards starring Brad Pitt!! With having to restart it so many times I've come to find more quotes in the movie that are great that make me laugh just the way the actors/actresses carry there roles. Lastly I cannot forget about the greatest movie that I have watched countless times that I haven't gotten a review done for, Avatar!! That is another great animated/real life movie that makes you wonder, can that happen in life? Just look out for many of those movie reviews.
Music reviews that I got coming up are the lastest two albums from great artist. Eminem just recently came out with a ablum called "Recovery" which includes the latest hit single "Not Afraid". Me recently discovering that hit made me discover the album so I have to still listen to the album and get my input ready for the review!!! The second album in review question would be Usher's latest album "Raymond v Raymond" which includes the hit single "OMG ft. Will.I.am" which has me wondering, will Usher ever lose his touch? Look closely for those reviews coming.
Many of you may have noticed that I am a HUGE Twilight fan, and if you haven't...well there you go you know now. I have been geared up for the newest saga release of Eclipse which is coming to theaters in US at 12:01am Wednesday, June 30, 2010. If I didn't have to work so earlier in the morning and had someone to go with I may be going but I have to find someone to go with!! May be going sometime before my Fall classes start up!! Which means I am going to be blogging about my story of becoming a Twilight Fan and whether I am Team Jacob or Team Edward (if you follow me closely on Twitter you may already know, if not you'll have to wait for the posting!!)
Another blog coming soon is about a question that a friend of mine asked that I will not be revealing until I post the blog!! So if your curious on my thoughts and reviews, please keep coming back for more!! Til next time, Mandi Lynn

I have now switched to the newest Curve in the family of BlackBerry's. I have been so happy with this BlackBerry that I have no desire to steer away from the BlackBerry family. If you've read my last review on the BlackBerry Curve 8330 then your really going to enjoy this review!! Not only did my last Curve give me a great amount of space but due to the circumstances of having to downgrade back to my Pearl for a couple of days due to the fact I was trying to be a kid again I never got the chance to fully learn the Curve. But since buying the BlackBerry Curve 2 and using it on a daily basis I am enjoying all the functions and space that I have on it!
The only thing that I do miss is having a flash on my camera but due to going to a concert that partook outside I did get to try out out it looked in the nighttime on camera mode and I have to say that if you go to a concert you may want to take a digital camera. I am disappointed that RIM didn't make this model with a built-in flash on the camera but I am learning on how to deal with it. Not only does this phone have a camera but it also has a video camera, voice note recorder, and a music player! If you have purchased on of these phones, I do have to warn you that you may need to get a memory card as most of your music, pictures, and videos are stored on there as well as ringtones if you purchase any!
When switching to the BlackBerry software version 4.7 to version 5.0 took me a good day because the setup was similar yet different. I was able to use more sophisticated folders to store applications. The BlackBerry messenger and the SMS text as well as MMS systems were the ones that I had to relearn as it was all in chat mode and to choose recipients were setup differently. But with learning the software I would have to say that RIM definitely did a wonderful job on the upgrade!
Many applications that I use on my BlackBerry are: Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, WeatherBug, Loopt, foursquare, Craigslist, eBay, Pandora, as well many of the apps included in the BlackBerry package. I would have to say that if you are looking to upgrade from a smaller BlackBerry, like the Pearl, the Curve is the way to go!

The BlackBerry Curve 8330 is the latest BlackBerry I've invested in and I have to say that it is the best one I've made so far! Memory has not been an issue for me at all and I have even picked up more applications on the Curve then I had on a Pearl! I have also learned more tricks to having and using many of the features on the phone and it has been great sharing these many tricks with others in the BlackBerry world!
Many features I use daily on my BlackBerry include: Facebook, Twitter, BlackBerry App World, BlackBerry Maps, MapQuest (yes I use MapQuest while having BlackBerry maps because MapQuest has yet to fail me and I've gotten lost at least once while using BlackBerry Maps), Calendar, MemoPad, WordPress, WeatherBug, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, as well as using BlackBerry Messenger! Some specs that I am thankful for being on my BlackBerry are: video camera (great for catching some hilarious party moments as well as lifes simple achievements).
*As a farewell message* I would say that with me majoring in the field that I am getting back into college for, the BlackBerry was a great investment for me! However, I do believe that a regular Joe Smoe who is looking for a phone to do everything that they need, this would be a perfect phone to jump right into!

Twitter Testimonial and Follow Friday
Labels: Follow Friday, followers, following, social, status, twitter, update 0 commentsSo I have been getting back into tweeting a lot and I have been meeting a lot of nice and friendly people via twitter!! When I first signed up for twitter I was using it lightly because I was [of course] new to the whole ordeal but it hasn't been until here recently I have been using it as a neat little tool that I can get things off my chest and get feedback on most of my tweets. Well here I have been updating you on things because I'm so comfortable. I have broken out of my twitter shell that you guys know what I'm doing, thinking, listening to, reading, news, etc, etc. I now also participate in the Follow Friday's that I make it a goal to blog my recommendations of Follow Fridays so that everyone knows how active I am on twitter.
My Follow Friday recommendations will be a mixture of my followers mentioning me in any form of #hashtag for Follow Friday plus I will be adding their recommendations to my list permitting how there profile looks. Not only that but grading on the level of how often they tweet! Once I am gathering my list I will be tweeting a short list of names that will be on my list so that way people can tell that I haven't forgotten about Follow Friday. Most times I am hoping to have this list up and posted the same day but this week has been a real busy week and I was extremely busy with an important business issue and had to postpone the blog until now!

TweetDeck is a twitter application that is ran on your desktop computer. It is by far the greatest one that I found out there. I use it all the time because it not only allows me to tweet but I also have the option to update my facebook status. With the latest version you can not only get better options of getting everyone's tweet by having your lists off twitter on TweetDeck. I recommend it to anyone who uses Windows and who is worried about API. If you use the right settings you don't have to worry about going over. To download follow the link above.

Idea's and Advice
Labels: advice, Creative Ellusions, Facebook, twitter, WOW Campaign 0 commentsWell as most of you know I have been busy working on things with Creative Ellusions!! It looks much better since I made the last one using paint and we all know that paint is not the graphic or a creative persons best friend!! Well then it got me thinking...I need to bring back The Words of Wisdom Campaign!! Then I totally remembered that I still wanted to continue because I was gonna bring it back on this blog but then I got to looking at the site and I just can't do that!! The same with my reviews because I have a good amount of reviews on that one!!
So were does the advice part of the title come from?? Well I need anyone's help that could offer it to me to how I can keep the blogs and get them to were it is good!! Will you be pretty much designing the site?? No you'll just be offering your advice to me to help me make it better!! Will there be an outcome for me?? Yes, if you in turn have a blog or a project that your working on I'll in return help you out the best I can anytime that I can!! Changes, Updates, & More
Labels: BlackBerry, blogging, family, heartbreak, life, love, twitter, WOW Campaign 0 commentsI just would like to take the time out today to thank you back to the site or even welcome you if your a first timer!! It has been quite a while since I've updated due to things happening outside of the laptop. Most of it has been working but there has been family issues and other things. But right now we are focusing on the site!! There are changes being made in which you will notice within a month or so!! Those will be discussed later!! But for now I must update you on a few things!!!
Updates:
I have recently within the last four months went from working at Kroger part-time to working at Meijer full-time as a produce clerk. I work the midnight shift which is fun so most of the time I've spent sleeping and working. Also I have trying to get things back to normal after my uncle passed and other things that have happened!! Also glad to mention that I have upgraded my phone to a BlackBerry so I may be able to keep up on things a lot more!!
Changes:
Changes being made to the site is the theme and banner!! I wanted to go with things that showed or has adapted to my personality. Second I am going to be changing The Words of Wisdom Campaign blog to be featured in this blog, which means that The Words of Wisdom Campaign blog will be moved onto this blog. Not only is The Words of Widsom Campaign moving to this site but so are many reviews!! I will find a way to make all previous reviews I have done [whether they be posted on the review site, this site, or any other site] available on this site by July 2010!! Most of my changes I am hoping to have started by January 1, 2010 and have them completely or always on this site by July 2010.
As a small disclaimer I do want to say that this site will be keep organized to the best that I can have it. I would like your feed back and in that case, I may have a feedback page!! I just want to leave you on a small little thought of the day:
When life knocks you down, get back up and fight harder

Follow Friday Update and More
Labels: Follow Friday, followers, following, status, twitter 0 commentsA couple entries back I had discussed Twitter's famous Follow Friday. Well with last weeks follow friday my twitter follower list has grown almost by 20+ people. Well this week I am going to start something different. I am going to start posting a link to each follow friday list and putting it up in a blog, as well as updating my status with the WHOLE list of followers for the event. That way I still can do the hashtag and start getting recognized on FollowFriday.com.
How can you get on my list? Well for this week (since its such sort notice) I will just handpick like I do every week. But from after this Friday on there will be a few things I will look into. And here's a list in what I will look at:
- How neat your Twitter page looks
- How nice you are (i.e. friendly, recommendations, tweets, etc)
- How much we talk
- How popular you are (i.e. how many people are following you)
- And a few odds and ends.
On a lighter note I am working on getting this site back to a nicer and more complex (for me at least) site were I hope people will start saying Wow, Mandi actually spent some time and worked hard on it. I am hoping to also work on getting to find a way to get back into college so that I can really pursue my degree in Web and Graphic design, but for now I am just playing around.
Well, that's all for the updates and I hope to see you all in the Twitter land!!

Twitter: My Revolution
Labels: Follow Friday, followers, following, social, status, twitter, update 0 commentsMost of everyone has heard of Twitter by now but many still don't have a Twitter account. I don't mind who does or doesn't have a Twitter because its their reason they don't but most of the many users who do find that they love it because they find more people who like stuff they do. I use it to update people on what I am doing throughout the day as well as to create more friendships and find others around me who would like to hang. I even use it to keep in touch with friends who I have known for a while. Most views of my blog know that my username on Twitter is @MandiDavis and I even have a RSS feed on here. Well I have recently gotten a new cellphone provider in which my tweets can be sent to me via text. Well I have gone through my list of people who follow me and my list of people I follow and have complied a list of people who I have their tweets sent to my phone. Here is the list [Note: the list is in no particular order!!]:
@Ethan2Rock
@frodofried
@verwon
@saxplaya07
@takeoutcreative
@themorningx
@radiojen
@ninjen
@mlfoley
@wbwillie
@tweepl
@BudGallant
@saraxlindsay
@seanshannon
@JasonAltenburg
@jackalopekid
@wxyzdetroit
@azuzephre
@twilighters
@AmberLyssaMarie
My list is based of friends who I tweet with on a daily basis, those who send updates (i.e. New stations, bands, etc), or even just people who I really want to keep in touch. I had to keep the list to a bare minimum so that my phone won't blow up. I just want to say to all my Twitter friends, if it gets outta hand I'll just swith it to Direct Messages. But I am hoping it don't come down to that.
If you are a memeber of Twitter and don't know how to do that, then follow me and send me a reply or direct message and I'll be glad to help. [Note: If I get many request I'll possibly make a blog about it]. Tell than, lets get Twittering!!

Follow Friday: The Weekly HUGE Holiday for Tweeps
Labels: Ashton Kutcher, Follow Friday, Oprah, status, twitter, update 0 commentsAs the word about Twitter is getting bigger, so are most peoples follower's list. Follow Friday (#followfriday) has brought a lot of people together and also has made a lot of people start finding others who tweet (an update on Twitter) about things they like. Twitter isn't just a site that allows people to keep others updated, to me its a site were people can find and socialize with others. Just today Oprah joined the Twitter nation and last night Ashton Kutcher was crowned King of Twitter. So how do you Follow Friday. Well first if you haven't joined, you must [in order to partake in Follow Friday] then once you join start searching for friends or celebrities you know and then every Friday you type in #followfriday then @ with the person's username in your status update. Once your list gets bigger so does your list for Follow Friday's. For now I am out. I'll have more on Twitter soon!!

Seesmic Desktop so far has been the only program I have used (other than the Power Twitter extension for FireFox) for twitter and I enjoy it! It is a very easy-to-use program that users can figure out without beating up the computer. It lets you update your tweets without even going to the website. I enjoy using the program and I am sure others would too!

This site is the best site for people to be a DJ for there OWN radio station. DJs get to blip while there listeners get to listen and give them props for certain songs. I think that it is the greatest tool/site for people to recommend certain songs to people in where if the person doesn't like the song, they don't have to download* it. I personally use this site and I think its awesome because I can use the site with my Twitter, FriendFeed, and Autoscrobbler. Join now by going to blip.fm!!

Labels: blogging, relationships, social media, twitter, update 0 commentsTwitter: is defined by Wikipedia as a social communicating and micro-blogging services that allows its users to send and read other users' updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based post of up to 140 characters in length.
I first heard of Twitter back around 2007 and didn't think much of it. Of course I started using it all the time because it didn't hurt to let people know what I was doing. Why not? People should be truthful and people should share and thats exactly what I like about Twitter is because people aren't afraid to be themselves there and I am one of those people are open and don't mind sharing things.
But what about other people? Well it seems that now Twitter has become very popular among people and business. For me its nice to follow different people and find out what they like about certain things, who they like, and even anything about what type of music they listen to and much much more! It seems now that Twitter is getting more and more popular.
But what's my scoop, why do I use Twitter? Well I use it to let people know what I am doing, what I'm listening to, send them updates about my site, or anything that I feel like twittering. I have been a member on there November 21, 2007 and if you would like to follow me on there then add me: @MandilDavis.
Well if you'd like to know my official review on Twitter you can find it here.

Twitter is by far a great site were members can post updates, ask each other questions and socialize with others. It has a way were users can personalize there designs and just have fun. Users also have fun with hashtags, Follow Friday, voting and much more.
